Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT)
Airport Information

(Tokyo, Japan)

Tokyo Airport (NRT) Information: Photo of the skyline taken from aboveLocated on the eastern side of the Greater Tokyo region and close to Ino, Ryugasaki, Sakura and Tako, Narita International Airport (NRT) is just 65 km / 40 miles north-east of Tokyo city centre and lies within the city of Narita itself, in Japan's Chiba prefecture. Over the years, Narita Airport has grown into one of Japan's most important international air facilities and links cities in Asia, Europe and the USA. Tokyo Narita has become Japan's number two airport, the country's premier cargo hub and is currently the world's 27th-busiest airport, serving around 35 million annual travellers.

Both Air Nippon and Japan Airlines are particularly notable domestic airlines at Narita and regularly fly from Tokyo to cities such as Nagoya, Osaka and Shanghai, as well as many international destinations. Tokyo Narita Airport features two passenger terminals, each of which have their own dedicated underground rail stations and inter-terminal connections by shuttle. Terminal 1 is the central terminal and features both a North Wing and a recently added seven-storey South Wing.

Narita Airport offers travellers plenty of different ways to reach central Tokyo, Shibuya Station, and the city's famous Ginza and Shinjuku neighbourhoods, which have become known for their endless shopping and entertainment. These include its own rail station (Narita Airport Station), Keisei and Chiba Kotsu buses, and fixed-fare taxis. Cities close to both Narita and Tokyo include Mito, Yokohama and Saitama, which is famous for its enormous football stadium, holding more than 60,000 spectators. Single trip travel insurance is always a sensible investment for those flying into Japan and means that you can enjoy peace of mind during your flight and holiday.

About Tokyo Tourism

Filled with spectacular towering skyscrapers and bright neon lights, Tokyo is very much a city of today. However, if you are looking for history and a taste of yesteryear, Tokyo won't disappoint and does still contain many ancient shrines, temples and monuments, such as the Asakusa Shrine, Hanazono Jinja Shrine, Kaminarimon (Kaminari Gate) and the Meiji Jingu Shrine.

Narita Airport (NRT) is a much-used gateway into this part of Japan and the island of Honshu. Located in the city of Narita and within the Chiba region, the airport is also close to Choshiu, Omigawa, Narutio and Tako. However, it is Tokyo where most tourists head, searching for the Imperial Palace, the famed Tsukiji Fish Market, Ueno Park and Zoo, the striking Sony Building, and even the city's fun-filled Disneyland resort.
